Council Member Dromm and Leaders Hold Vigil in Response to Hate Crime

Elected officials, LGBT groups and community leaders gathered on Monday night for a vigil at the site in Carroll Gardens where a young man was recently severely beaten by 5 individuals shouting anti-gay slurs. Leaders from across the community came together to make clear that there is no room for hate or violence in Carroll Gardens, or anywhere in Brooklyn, and to show their support for the victim who is recovering.
“We must unite to send a strong message that hate crimes will not be tolerated anywhere in New York City. Once again, we find ourselves fighting against the fear and ignorance which led to this crime. New York is about tolerance and diversity – not violence,” said City Council Member Daniel Dromm who traveled from Queens for the event.
